Children of Chernobyl

The Chernobyl Children's Life Line (
http://www.ccll.org.uk/ho/) aims to bring child victims of the Chernobyl disaster to the UK for recuperative breaks of four weeks, and provide further support in Belarus through the provision of healthcare products to the children on their return.
The visits to the UK are supported by host families, with whom the children are placed for the four week stay. Each visit is organised by a local CCLL branch, who co-ordinate the visit, activities, school placements and other events. One such branch is based in the South Hams in Devon. Positive Purchasing was able to help each of the host families by providing a large box of organic vegetables and fruit every week, in conjunction with the local Riverford organic vegetable distributor, Martin Emmett, as well as supporting the collection and return of the children to Gatwick Airport.
We were pleased to be able to provide this support, as we found this to be a particularly positive and uplifting cause, providing direct and noticeable benefit to the children who were staying with us.
